Additionally, during a Plasma Pen session, many types of pigmentation issues can be addressed, including liver spots, age spots, and freckles.
Benefits of This Treatment
A Plasma Pen treatment is completely non-invasive, meaning there are no scalpels or needles required and no incisions needed. There is also very little downtime.
The treatment can be performed on almost any part of the body. Additionally, because the device is so versatile and precise, it is an excellent choice for very small regions. Due to the nature of its precise application, it is not ideal for large areas.
The results of the Plasma Pen are apparent immediately and continue to improve over the course of twelve months. Results are very long lasting – its benefits can last up to three years after the treatment.
Good candidates for a Plasma Pen treatment are those looking for a non-surgical and effective solution to skin issues.
Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not good candidates for a Plasma Pen session. Additionally, patients with sensitive skin conditions or autoimmune disorders are not ideal candidates. Patients who have brown or olive skin tones should avoid this treatment option, since there is a risk of pigmentation issues.
How Does the Plasma Pen Work?
The aging process involves a decline in collagen and elastin protein production in the skin tissues. Because of this, the skin has less elasticity, structure, and volume. Sagging occurs, along with wrinkling and roughness. To remedy these issues and more, the Plasma Pen treatment encourages increased collagen and elastin production.
The Plasma Pen converts electrical energy into a stream of plasma (composed of nitrogen and oxygen), which is directed at a specific target on the skin. This creates a safe controlled burn in the epidermis, which has a number of benefits.
The burn ablates tissue on a microscopic level, creating microtrauma, which signals the body’s healing process to begin. As part of the healing process, fibroblast cells in the deep dermis create new collagen and elastin to restore skin health. This is a gradual process that continues for around twelve weeks and offers lasting natural results.
Additionally, the heat of the energy makes the existing proteins contract and tighten. This makes the skin immediately firmer and tighter for a more youthful look.
Kristi is absolutely amazing!!! I have been seeing her for 3 years now, and I’d follow her anywhere (luckily I only had to go down the street!) for the sweet service she gives. She never suggests a service to me until she asks me about the results I want to see, and never pushes services I don’t need just to make more money.
If you have ever been less than satisfied with your skin in any way, she is the first stop you should make! Ten out of five stars, every time!
What Is the Treatment Like?
A Plasma Pen treatment session takes between ten and forty-five minutes. A topical anesthetic will be applied to the targeted areas beforehand in order to numb them to pain or discomfort. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, the pen is used to apply the plasma to the skin. This is repeated until full coverage is complete.
A single session creates a number of benefits. Typically, around two to three treatment sessions may be necessary in order to achieve desired results. To allow the skin to heal, six to eight weeks must pass between sessions.
Your Plasma Pen will be performed by the 1010 MediSpa team located in Wilson, NC.

Aftercare Following a Plasma Pen Treatment
After your session, there may be a degree of temporary bruising, swelling, redness, scabbing, or peeling/flaking in the treated areas. These will lessen shortly during recovery and healing, but they will still be present in some form for around seven days.
To aid in reduction of swelling, keep your head elevated and use ice packs on the areas. Additionally, you must avoid any activities that result in sweating for around two days. For best results, do not scratch, rub, or pick at the treatment regions. Because the skin will be sensitive for a time, avoid heavy sun exposure and wear proper sun protection.
